CYCLE4HAITI

Aspire Technology fielded a team of 8 cyclists at this year’s Cycle4Haiti event on Saturday the 6th of May.

Bill Walsh, Brian McCormack, Jake Reid, John Wall, Martin Connolly & Sean Ward cycled the 100km Athlone to Galway route while Declan O’ Neil and Daniel O’Brien cycled the 200km Dublin to Galway route.

The peloton departed Dublin at 6.30am and travelled through Kildare, Meath and Westmeath before arriving in Athlone ahead of schedule thanks to an easterly wind. From there another batch of cyclists joined the peloton for the Athlone to Galway route.

The conditions were perfect, temperatures were mild and the sun did peek out of the clouds occasionally but not for long enough to cause sunburn or dehydration! The team arrived in Galway just before 5 pm, the night was young and the beverages would be well earned at this stage!

We as a company have close relations to Haiti and we raised over €10,000 for Haven through this event. Haiti is one of the poorest countries on earth and is still recovering from the devastating earthquake that took place in 2010. Haven aims to empower the people of Haiti to build sustainable livelihoods and to live free from poverty through social entrepreneurship. We would like to thank everyone who supported this worthy cause, it is truly appreciated.
