Aspire at O-RAN Global PlugFest Fall 2022 in i14y Lab Berlin

We are proud to share that in December Aspire took part in the O-RAN Global PlugFest Fall 2022 in the i14y Lab Berlin. We successfully developed and deployed an AI/ML powered rApp for anomaly detection. This project was achieved in partnership with VMware, who supplied the VMware Centralised RIC the rApp was built on.

A common issue when executing several rApps simultaneously is the risk that configuration management changes made by one rApp interfere with the execution of other rApps. The governance rApp is designed to provide centralised, intelligent monitoring on behalf of all rApps running on a Non –Real-Time RIC platform.

rApps performing configuration management changes in the network need to simply communicate those changes via an updated R1 interface to the Aspire application which will in turn monitor the health of the entire network. Should any degradation be observed the Aspire application will determine the reason and communicate with the rApp responsible, requesting that the changes be reverted.

This allows the Non-Real Time RIC to execute confusion-free and avoids scenarios where several rApps revert changes unnecessarily. This enables simpler rApp design allowing developers to concentrate on intelligence and functionality without having to worry about monitoring network impacts.

As recognition for participating in the O-RAN Global PlugFest Fall 2022, Aspire was awarded a Medal for active Hosts and Participants.
