Impressions from the MWC2023

With more than 88,500 attendees and 2,400 exhibitors, sponsors, and partners, of which half came from sectors adjacent to the mobile ecosystem, MWC Barcelona is still the biggest telco industry event.

We at Aspire alongside NEC were delighted to have met our current and some of our future clients and partners in MWC’s vibrant environment surrounded by innovation and technology evolution. During the four busy MWC days, we discussed several key solutions from our portfolio with them.

The first one was network automation, particularly around service management and orchestration, xApps and rApps, the evolution of Self Optimizing Networks (SON) for operational efficiency, and optimizing networks. Another one that got a lot of attention from our customers and operators, in general, was energy efficiency which is a big topic at the moment.

The consulting services we offer for managing and optimizing the transition of networks into 5G, open networks, and managing capacity, were another area of interest for our visitors at MWC. The one very much related to the previous ones was network operations and support, thanks to Aspire’s heritage of providing level 2 and level 3 network support for legacy networks, now evolving into open networks. And the last was the telco cloud as the need to build a future-proof cloud architecture for telco networks is complex & challenging.

We are proud also of our participation in VMware RIC rAppathon with our governance rApp developed on VMware RAN Intelligent Controller. Our Software Engineer, Eoin Bleakley, successfully demonstrated our governance rApp to a panel of expert judges drawn from the telecom industry. The rApp analyzes performance monitoring data and detects anomalies using AI/ML techniques, as a first step to detect network issues and enable the autonomous resolution of these issues in the future.

As we summarize our after-event impressions, we can say that at MWC2023 we witnessed that not only the telecom industry is alive and well, but also that the combination of Aspire and NEC is a very strong value proposition to a market in need of reliable and future-proof alternatives.

We look forward to following up on all engagements and can’t wait to be back next year to talk about all the success achieved in the meantime.

See you soon Barcelona!
