Technology Strategy - Aspire: Perfecting Networks

Aspire Technology is now part of NEC!

Permanent growth of the traffic from one side, and increasing user experience requirements from another, puts a lot of pressure on smart investments in telecommunication infrastructure more than ever. Aspire supports Mobile Network Operators and Private Networks along the whole investment journey with top expertise and innovative solutions, without any vendor agenda. Vast experience in mobile networks R&D, strategic consulting, network design and planning, operations, and performance optimization is embedded in our portfolio of services that aim to support our partners to reach their business goals with optimal CapEx and maximized ROI.

Three segments of our portfolio that address different phases/stages of this journey are presented below:

  1. Technology Strategy Consulting, with a goal to set the winning strategy, in terms of spectrum assets, implemented technology, and applied solutions.
  2. CapEx Optimization Consulting, with a goal to optimize the investments based on performance forecasting and what-if analysis.
  3. Network Planning & Design Services, with a goal to execute the strategy through high-level network design and low-level network design, in a way that secures most benefits of deployed technology solutions and defers the need for further investments.

Technology Strategy Consulting services are designed to support operator in the first phase of this important journey, which is to define the best network deployment strategy. In our experience, when it comes to winning strategy, there is no one size fit all solution, but strategy needs to be customized and adjusted to particular operator specifics, like dominant use cases and traffic mix, target network performance and user experience, spectrum assets, network grid and topology, network load and traffic growth trends etc. Our consultants are ready to support process of customized strategy definition with our top expertise in various network domains: RAN, Core Network, Cloud or Open Networks, SMO and RIC.

On the RAN side, some of the typical modules are:

  • Spectrum strategy, with goal to optimize usage of spectrum assets.
  • RAN deployment strategy, with focus on 5G where significant margin in performance and capacity may be unleashed with proper strategic decisions targeting overhead reduction, traffic management strategy or some aspects of beamforming and carrier aggregation deployment.
  • GSM/3G sunset strategy, aiming to define strategy of shutting down older technologies to release spectrum for technologies with better spectral efficiency or to optimize OPEX.

On the Core side, some of the typical modules are:

  • Data service strategy, with a goal to ensure Data service continuity and quality during the introduction of new technology, leveraging industry best practices to optimize CAPEX/OPEX investments.
  • Voice service strategy, covering multiple voice technologies (VoLTE, VoNR, fixed) with the intention to define a strategy that is the best fit for the intended business model and in line with current network assets.
  • Roaming strategy, aiming to define a winning roaming services strategy for new technologies, from agreements and QoS to Charging, with a focus on lowering OPEX and increasing revenue.

On the Cloud side, some of the typical modules are:

  • Cloud deployment strategy, aiming to define a winning Cloud deployment model aligned with the business use case.
  • Cloud efficiency strategy, with a focus on next-gen solutions such as MEC/NW slicing to optimize CAPEX/OPEX investments.
  • Orchestration and Automation strategy, with the goal to incorporate CI/CD pipelines into everyday operational work to create a more responsive and flexible network.

On the Open Networks, SMO and RIC side, some of the typical modules are:

  • ORAN deployment strategy, supporting various strategic decisions related to process of Open RAN introduction, like vendor assessment, trials/PoC definitions, relevant process engineering, Lab establishment etc.
  • Open-Source solutions in Core NW, with the idea of leveraging different publicly available Core solutions to support various types of R&D, PoCs, and solution evaluation activities during the early stages of technology strategy solution assessment and selection.
  • SMO/RICAPP development strategy, supporting customized solutions development.

Finally, NEC Aspire has vast experience creating SW solutions to support and optimize various processes related to Mobile network lifecycle, and we support operators to define SON/Automation use cases and develop deployment strategy.

Our consultants are dedicated to providing comprehensive information about the modules and actively engaging with our partners to carefully design and deliver a customized solution tailored to their specific needs.
